Jishu Sengupta is a popular Bengali film actor and popularly known as Jisshu.Though, his real name is Biswaroop Sengupta, he is more famous as Jisshu, his pet name. He is the son of Ujjwal Sengupta, also an actor of Bengali films.He born on March 15, 1977 in Kolkata.

  His mother, Mukta Sengupta, was a homemaker and a wedding planner. Jisshu has an elder sister, Satarupa (Rai) Sengupta, who was previously married (now divorced) to Anindya Bose, the lead singer from the Bengali band, Sahar. Initially, Jisshu was a cricketer, who represented Bengal in some sub junior games. But he was more keen to make a career in the Bengali film industry.

He got his first break in a mega serial,Mahaprabhu as the lead character: Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. After that, there was no looking back for him. He is a popular figure in contemporary Bengali television. He has recently (June 2011) made a comeback on Bengali television, with the megaserial Aparajito, which is being produced by his own company, Blue Water pictures, and is possibly the very first serial based on a male protagonist.

Jisshu has worked with renowned directors like Shyam Benegal (in Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose: The Forgotten Hero), and Rituparno Ghosh in The Last Lear (in which the co-actor was Amitabh Bachchan),     Shob Charitro Kalponik, and Abohoman, and with Gautam Ghose in Abar Aranye.

 Jishu is an integral part of the Bengal Tigers T20 team in the 2012 Indian Celebrity Cricket League. His half century in the match against the Kerala Strikers was well appreciated. Jisshu is now, as of 2012, currently hosting musical-reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa: Gane Gane Tomar Mone on Zee Bangla.

Jishu's wife Nilanjana Sharma, whom he married in 2004, is the elder daughter of Anjana Bhowmick, another Bengali film actress in the Bengali film industry; her debut Bengali film was Swapner Feriwala (2002) directed by Subrata Sen.

Bibhu Bhattacharya was a Bengali Indian male actor of TV and films. He was born on 17 September 1944 - 22 September 2011 in Jharia (now Jharia, Jharkhand, India), Bihar, British India.He gained prominence and became a household name only in 1998 as Jatayu in Sandip Ray’s Feluda films based on stories by his late father, maestro Satyajit Ray.

Bibhu Bhattacharya never attended any school. He was acting in studios, when other boys of his age were studying. At the age of four-and-a-half he started acting in a film called Maryada (1950) starring Uttam Kumar.

He was called Master Bibhu, one of the most prominent child actors in Bengali films and very popular with actors like Jahar Ganguly and Chhabi Biswas. He played the title role in the movie Prahlad (1952) and did movies like Bindur Chhele (1952), Dhruba (1953), Rani Rashmoni (1955), Dui Bon (1955). After he grew up and became a teenager, he could no longer be a child actor and offers began to dry up. His last film as a child actor was Sagar Sangame (1959). Then, he didn’t get another film for almost 38 years. In between, he kept himself busy with theater and TV serials.

 It was only in 1998 that he got the dream role of Jatayu. His first film as Jatayu was Bombaiyer Bombete (2003) and he also acted as Jatayu in Kailashey Kelenkari (2007), Tintorettor Jishu (2007) and Gorosthaney Sabdhan (2010). He was legendary in his performance and managed to capture in essence the spirit of the character so well that even Sandip Ray, the director, found him perfect as a replacement. He had completed dubbing for the Feluda film Royal Bengal Rahasya the day before he died. Initially, it was difficult to replace the legendary actor, Santosh Dutta as Jatayu, but he became popular with time.

He represented his school in football, basketball and athletics. In his final  year, he won the schools Best Athlete shield. He graduated from St. Xaviers College, Kolkata. In his 2nd year in college, he made up his  mind to join the Indian Army and was preparing for the CDS exams when fate intervened and he was asked by the prominent director Prabhat Roy to play a small role in his film.

That one film brought other offers and soon he decided to become a professional actor. He started off by playing minor negative characters who got beaten to pulp, by the hero, in Bengali potboilers. After a while he was so fed up of being typecast that he left movies entirely and concentrated on television.

It is here that he first tasted success. He was spotted in back-to-back serials playing very different roles by the national award winning director Rituparno Ghosh and cast opposite Nandita Das in his film Shubho Mahurat. In spite of the presence of such veteran artistes, such as Raakhee, Sharmila Tagore and Nandita Das in the film, Tota made his mark. He was cast again opposite Aishwarya Rai in Rituparno's Tagore adaptation, Chokher Bali. It was his breakthrough performance, which was hailed by both the critics and the cinegoers. He won several awards, including the prestigious BFJA Award for the Best Actor.
