Nandana Sen is the daughter of Nobel wining and Bharat Ratna economist Amartya Sen and Padma Shri wining contemporary Bengali literate Nabanita Dev Sen. She is a kolkata film actress and gorgeous beauty lady in tollywood industry. She was born on the 19th August 1970 in west Bengal.

In Tango Charlie, she shared the screen space with the likes of Sanjay Dutt, Sunil Shetty, Ajay Devgn and Bobby Deol. Nandana debut a student adventure of her film The Doll in 1997, a complex story about an older man's dual obession with his friend's young daughter and a ventriloquist's doll. In 2008 she appeared in the British television series Sharpe, in the episode Sharpe's Peril. She was first seen on the Indian screen as Rani Mukherjee's jealous seventeen-years-old sister in Black, followed by lead roles in Ram Gopal Verma's My Wife's Murder and Nitin Manmohan's Tango Charlie.She spent her growing years in various cities across Europe, India and America. She studied drama at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute, the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, and studied literature at Harvard University.

Her first vehicle in Bollywood was the Rani Mukherjee and Amitabh Bachchan starrer Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Black in which she essayed the role of a 17-year-old sister of Rani.
Ram Gopal Varma and Nitin Manmohan, Sen signed for one of the principal roles in the jarring, terrorist-themed psychological drama The War Within (2005) and, in the process, both made a name for herself and began to cultivate a reputation for being drawn to offbeat, challenging, and demanding roles.
Nandana Sen has been under controversies since the beginning of her career.In Tango Charlie, Sen showed off her bare back and fetched huge controversies and interest in the movie.In the flick Rang Rasiya in which she essayed the role of a painter’s muse, she went nude again. This fueled endless controversies with protests even emerging when Rang Rasiya was screened at the 17th Kolkata Film Festival. Sen says that she does not care about these controversies, as she is proud of her role in Rang Rasiya.

"If a Kate Winslet does a nude
scene, it's okay there. But if it happens in India we create an uproar. What's
wrong in depicting nudity in a dignified way? There are two ways of depicting
nudity. One is demeaning to a woman where you objectify her body, while the
other one celebrates the power of women.”

Nandana Sen was in a nine year old relationship
with producer Madhu Mantena. They have ended their relationship. Nandana is
shifting to New York and the couple felt that a long-distance relationship is
impractical, but they admit that they will work together on a movie. As of
December 2012, she is married to John Makinson, CEO of Penguin Publishing.
